Society & Design Student Association

Society & Design Student Association (SDSA)

The Society & Design Students' Association (SDSA) represents students enrolled in the Faculty of Society & Design, Bond’s largest faculty, and offers an array of services aimed at enhancing student life.

The SDSA runs a number of social, cultural and career events, including academic support sessions, wellness giveaways and its semesterly Social. Each year, it runs its flagship sit-down dinner, Dining with Social Justice, and a formal Careers & Networking Evening. It is also responsible for collaborating with Faculty to advance student priorities and officially raise student concerns.

The SDSA represents students in a diverse array of study areas, including Architecture, Built Environment, Communications, Film & Television, International Relations, Arts and Psychology, to name a few. Students in need of academic, social or career support are encouraged to reach out.

The SDSA Office is located outside the Arch Building below the Balnaves Foundation Multimedia Learning Centre (MLC), directly across from the Law Faculty. If you have any queries, concerns or suggestions, the SDSA Office is open Monday to Friday from 10am to 2pm.

Committee applications open annually in the September trimester.

The Faculty of Society & Design is also home to several sub-faculty associations.

Abedian School of Architecture Student Association (ASA)

The Architecture Students’ Association (ASA) is an elected group of second-year students engaged in supporting new learners and creating a friendly study environment.

The ASA provides leadership to those in our small studios who might be struggling with content, workload and socialising. The association works with students to make them more comfortable. Our social media posts showcase current and past students’ work and opportunities for public lectures, networking and site visits.

The team consists of Co-Presidents, a Treasurer, Social Media manager, Wellbeing coordinator and SONA (Student Organised Network of Architecture) Representative.

Bond International Affairs Society (BIAS)

The Bond International Affairs Society (BIAS) is the student association for those passionate about international affairs or pursuing global careers.

BIAS promotes the importance of international affairs while highlighting international opportunities available to students. It produces a variety of communications focusing on alumni, academic and student experiences of overseas internships, exchange, competitions, conferences and careers, and fosters engagement with industry professionals.

Positioned as Bond’s Diplomatic Incubator, BIAS also provides students with opportunities to explore international affairs through initiatives including networking events and seminars. Each semester, BIAS organises its flagship Model United Nations (MUN), simulating high-stakes global negotiations in a social environment, and enabling delegates to develop diplomatic, oratory and critical thinking skills.

Whether you're hoping to launch a career in foreign policy, international law, transnational business, or global development, BIAS aims to empower students to take off from the Gold Coast and land anywhere in the world.

Bond Psychological Society (BPS)

The Bond Psychological Society (BPS) exists to provide support for psychology students from first to fourth year. It provides peer-to-peer support through study sessions for mid-semester and end-of-semester exams, as well as weekly information via email with event updates and relevant career information to help students navigate the long road to becoming a clinical psychologist.

Currently, the BPS’s biggest event is its semesterly careers symposium, where it invites current psychology practitioners and clinics to present to students about potential pathways to and beyond clinical psychology.

The BPS mainly posts on Instagram, and strongly encourages students to get in touch via email for any questions or queries.
