  • A head start at university makes you stronger.

I think having a head start at a university makes you a stronger student. You’re more open to what university life actually is like, and you kind of know the grounds, can scope out the vibes of uni and it really just makes you a stronger student.

The student for a semester program was very enlightening. It gives you a kind of scope into what university life actually is like. You’re working with actual university students on projects and you’re learning from real lecturers, having real life classes out of school time so it gives you that real life experience into what uni could be like for you in the future.

  • A head start at university makes you capable.

I found that because I already had the foundations for uni life, it was much easier for me to adjust to a university setting and curriculum than it might be for some other students that didn’t have that.

“I did Student for a Semester and Learn for Credit so I got to really experience the university. I got to join some of the clubs, like the book club and I got to associate myself with all the university students and immerse myself in the culture rather than just learning. So it was more nuanced for me, which I really appreciated.

  • A head start at university makes you inspired

I wanted career experience. I wanted to learn what it was like to use the cameras and meet some new people and meet people that were career ready and learn in the industry as well. I actually opened my production company after my Student for a Semester. So, that really inspired to open it up,

  • A head start makes you really excited.

It gives you so much to look forward to and it gives you a great basis of what you want to study and knowing that you’re in the right place and doing what you want to be doing. It gives you that motion to keep moving forward through year twelve and give it your all so that you can get to where you want to be. It made me really confident in my choice of what I wanted to study and where I wanted to be. I really loved it for that.

  • A head start at university makes you feel more comfortable.

Being able to have a head start before coming to university was a bonus because I’m more prepared, I know where things are, I’m more comfortable with the campus and how things work.

On the first day of the Student for a Semester program I was super nervous. I was 16, going into this big university coming from a small school. But being able to have that knowledge and experience, coming into university now, has just made it so much more comfortable for me.

  • A head start makes you better prepared.

You have a jump start on your uni studies and you feel more prepared to start uni. It was a little daunting coming to uni while I was in Year 11, but it taught me so many valuable lessons about studying. It taught me about the campus and different parts of university and how to handle that, especially as a young student. I feel better prepared now. I know the experience, I know everyone, the tutorial spaces. It’s given me a great head start.
