The Office of Research Services is seeking an experienced Research Ethics and Biosafety Officer to join their busy and supportive team. This pivotal role provides high-level support and administration to ensure smooth, effective, and efficient operation of our Research Ethics and Biosafety processes, policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities of this varied role include:

  • Serving as the first point of contact and providing advice for academics and Higher Degree Research (HDR) students on all aspects of Research Ethics and Biosafety
  • Assisting with monitoring and ensuring compliance with approved ethics and biosafety protocols
  • Performing day-to-day administrative tasks to support the service and delivery of the department
  • Providing secretariat support to relevant committees

 

About the person

Ideally you will be a highly skilled administrator who can manage multiple priorities within a collaborative, fast paced and growing environment. You will also be interested in continuous improvement and cross-training within the Office of Research Services.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of relevant codes and legislation related to human research ethics and/or biosafety, with previous experience in research ethics, integrity and/or biosafety
  • The ability to analyse and interpret data, policies, procedures, and legislation, with well-developed problem-solving skills, while maintaining continuous improvement
  • Strong organisational and planning skills, including the ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines and demonstrate flexibility in dealing with conflicting demands without compromising standards of service and quality.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with exceptional attention to detail and high-level IT literary skills and competency across Microsoft Office suite

 

Salary details

The salary for the position commences at $98,789.18 per annum, plus 12% superannuation.

 

Please note: The fixed term of this employment contract will be for up to two years, with twelve months' probation. The prospect of conversion to a continuing employment contract will be discussed at the end of the contract term.
