The Research Manager – Institute for Evidence-Based Healthcare plays a pivotal role in delivering strategic, operational, and administrative leadership to support the Institute’s research excellence. Working closely with the Institute Director, researcher staff and stakeholders; this role provides high-level advice and operational oversight across finance, HR, logistics, and administration. With a strong focus on team culture, governance, financial management and stakeholder engagement, the Research Manager will ensure that the Institute grows it’s research capacity and capability, operates efficiently and remains aligned with university standards and research priorities.
This position is instrumental in advancing the Institute’s national and international profile through robust relationship management, strategic planning and reporting, and external engagement. The role also contributes to team-building and research development activities (including grant and funding support), research metric reporting, and coordination of events and communications. The Research Manager will lead a small professional team and ensure that researchers are effectively supported to focus on achieving high-impact outcomes.
About the person
The ideal applicant will have:
- A relevant university degree and a minimum of five years’ experience in a comparable role, with strong knowledge of current issues and trends in management and research.
- Proven leadership and operational management experience within a complex organisational environment.
- Team leadership experience and creating a positive culture combined with an innovative and collaborative working environment.
- Demonstrated ability to provide high-level strategic advice and support to senior executives.
- Strong financial, HR, and business administration skills, including reporting and compliance.
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience managing national and international partnerships.
Salary details
The salary for the position commences at $112,653.85 per annum, plus 12% superannuation.
The fixed term of this employment contract will be for up to three years, with twelve months' probation. The prospect of conversion to a continuing employment contract will be discussed at the end of the contract term.
