Evidence Based Practice and Policy

With rising healthcare demands, increasing costs, and unexplained variations in practice, delivering evidence-based care has never been more critical. Yet, the sheer volume of available research presents a challenge for busy health professionals.

This course equips you with the skills to efficiently find, evaluate, and apply the latest evidence to clinical practice and healthcare policy. You will challenge common preconceptions about evidence-based practice, critically assess its underlying theory, and develop practical strategies for integrating research into decision-making.

Learn to formulate searchable questions from real-world clinical and policy challenges, identify the most appropriate study designs, and assess the strengths and limitations of different types of research. Through hands-on practice, you will refine your ability to locate high-quality studies, critically evaluate findings, and translate research into meaningful, evidence-informed action.

By the end of the course, you will be able to confidently interpret and communicate research findings to diverse audiences, supporting informed clinical decisions and driving improvements in healthcare delivery.

The course is delivered over 12 weeks. Students will have access to 10 weeks of guided online learning and are required to attend a 3-day workshop on campus.

Upon successfully completing the course and the assessments, you will receive an Official Academic Transcript and 10 Bond credit points, which are claimable towards a postgraduate degree in Healthcare Innovations.
