The rapid trajectory of rising star Kaylin Van Greunen has continued with her selection in a Netball Australia emerging athlete program.

The Bull Sharks scoring machine was a part of an U19s Australian training squad that attended a high-performance camp at the Australian Institute of Sport recently.

From that squad the national talent managers selected the core group of players that it believes can feed into the Australian U21s and eventually the Australian Diamonds.

On the domestic front the Downlands College student is set to be a key player for the Bull Sharks in their second season in the Sapphire Series next year. In her debut season she was a four-time winner of the MVP award, selected after each round, and was a regular in the Hart Sapphire Series Team of the Week.

“Kaylin has had an enormous year making her Bond Sapphire debut,” Bull Sharks Head of Netball Kim Boland said.

“She has exceeded everyone’s expectations in her transition from the Ruby Series to the Sapphire Series.’’

The 17-year-old will also continue in the Netball Queensland Elite Athlete Program and the Bull Sharks U18 program with a view to earning selection in the Queensland U19s side in 2024.

There she will find a familiar face in Bull Sharks Sapphire coach Bec Stower who has just been appointed to coach the Queensland side. Her assistant will be another member of the Bull Sharks, specialist skills coach Amanda Kelly.

The off-season for the Bull Sharks coaching staff has been short-lived with the Bond University Development Pathways team finishing third in the Premier League.

Bond will also send teams to the U16 and U18 Queensland Titles on September 16.

The Bull Sharks will also take part in a Cubs Carnival with the Darling Downs Panthers and Brisbane South Wildcats on September 10 at Hinterland District Netball Association.
