Books, journals and more

The Library collection includes over 500,000 titles.

  • 380,000+ ebooks
  • 92,000+ physical titles (books, DVDS etc)
  • 90,000+ online journals.

Library Search is where you can search our physical collections and most of our online resources. In addition to the physical collections in the Main and Law Libraries we have a huge variety of online resources.

Textbooks

The first question most keen new students often ask is "Where can I get my textbooks?"

You can borrow textbooks from the Library's Reserve Collections. Many textbooks have eBook access provided by the Library. Shelf locations and links are usually on a Resource List in your iLearn subject site.

Not all subjects have prescribed textbooks - look at your subject outline to check. Subject outlines can be found in your subject's iLearn site or on the University website. 

Search for your subject

Check the edition and title details when buying secondhand textbooks. You don't want to pay for a book that is not the set textbook.

Your library account

All students and staff have a library account in Library Search. You can use your account to:

  • Borrow items - automatic renewals if items are not requested
  • Place requests:
    • click & collect
    • scanned articles or chapters
    • loans from other libraries
  • Save records and searches
  • Monitor due dates of loans, and the status of any requests

Locations

Main Library

The John & Alison Kearney Main Library provides customer-focused, innovative services, resources and learning zones to suit groups and individual study needs.

Law Library

The John & Alison Kearney Law Library provides access to both online and print resources to support the learning, teaching and research of the Faculty of Law.

Multimedia Learning Centre

The Balnaves Foundation Multimedia Learning Centre is a technology-rich educational environment providing spaces for collaboration and individual learning.

Study areas

The Libraries and the Multimedia Learning Centre are equipped with a large number of computers, networked printers and copiers. Wi-Fi is available throughout.
