About the executive team
The University's executive team comprises the Vice Chancellor, Provost, Executive Deans, University Registrar, and Vice-Presidents. They form the University Management Committee (UMC) which sets and monitors the University’s strategic direction, develops and evaluates policy, and promotes a culture of continuous quality improvement to benefit all students, staff and broader University community members.
President and Vice Chancellor
Professor Tim Brailsford
Professor Tim Brailsford has served as Bond’s Vice Chancellor and President since 2012.
As President and Vice Chancellor, Professor Brailsford is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management and operation of the University and for implementing University strategies, policies and procedures.
Prior to joining Bond, Professor Brailsford worked at several major universities including the Australian National University, the University of Queensland, the University of Melbourne, and Monash University, in addition to visiting roles in Europe, the UK, North America, and Asia. He has served on commercial boards, government agencies and professional committees, including as President of the Australian Business Deans Council, President of the Association of Asia-Pacific Business Schools and member of the Professional Education Board or CPA Australia.

Provost
Professor Keitha Dunstan
As Bond’s Provost, Professor Dunstan is responsible for overseeing the University’s educational offering.
Professor Dunstan has worked at Bond since 2009, and in the role of Provost, she leads Bond’s research, learning and teaching units, and strategies, and oversees the academic operations of the University.
Professor Dunstan is also the Chair of the Board of Advice for the Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Foundation, the Queensland Independent Remuneration Tribunal, and the Indigenous Advisory Group for CPA Australia. She is a Board Member of the Gold Coast Waterways Authority and is the Chair of their Audit and Risk Committee.
Professor Keitha Dunstan is a proud descendant of the Mandandanji people of South West Queensland.
Executive Dean, Bond Business School
Professor Robin Gauld
Professor Robin Gauld is the Executive Dean of Bond Business School, responsible for the academic and administrative leadership of the School. He previously served as Dean and Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Otago Business School at the University of Otago. There, he also held a joint professorial role in the Business and Medicine Schools as Co-Director of the Centre for Health Systems and Technology.
A leader in international education, Professor Gauld has guided institutions through AACSB and EQUIS accreditations and has an impressive range of interdisciplinary initiatives and achievements, spanning both business and health disciplines. He is an accomplished researcher with over 250 publications. Professor Gauld is former President of the Association of Asia-Pacific Business Schools and was a Trustee for Start-Up Dunedin and an elected Director of Business South.
Executive Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences & Medicine
Professor Nick Zwar
Professor Nick Zwar is Bond’s Executive Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences & Medicine. Leading the Faculty, Professor Zwar ensures Bond’s programs, research and initiatives continue to innovate and set the benchmark in Australian healthcare education.
He was the Dean of Medicine at the University of Wollongong, and a Professor of General Practice and Deputy Dean (Education) at the University of New South Wales. With more than 200 peer-reviewed publications and many contributions to clinical practice guidelines, Professor Zwar has earned international recognition for his research on the prevention and management of chronic illness, with a focus on respiratory and cardiovascular diseases.
Professor Zwar continues to practise as a general practitioner on the Gold Coast.
Executive Dean, Faculty of Law
Professor Nick James
An accomplished commercial lawyer and passionate educator, Professor Nick James is the Executive Dean of Bond’s Faculty of Law and leads all aspects of the Faculty’s academic and administrative functions. Having entered academia in 1996, Professor James has won numerous awards for his accomplishments in legal education and work in ensuring future lawyers are prepared to stand out in the modern legal landscape.
Professor James is also the Co-Director of the Bond University Centre for Professional Legal Education (CPLE), Co-Chair of the Council of Australian Law Deans, President of the Australasian Animal Law Teachers Association (AALTRA), Immediate Past Chair of the Australasian Law Academics Association (ALAA) and a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law.
Executive Dean, Faculty of Society & Design
Professor Derek Carson
As Executive Dean of the Faculty of Society & Design, Professor Derek Carson leads the University’s largest and most eclectic Faculty. Originally from Scotland, he was the Dean of School of Media, Culture & Society at the University of the West of Scotland, and the Head of Psychology at Abertay University. He was also awarded a PhD in experimental cognitive psychology by the University of Stirling.
Professor Carson is a keen supporter of interdisciplinary and translational approaches to research and teaching, and is widely published in the field of applied cognition. He is passionate about the responsibility universities have to impact and benefit as many facets of society as possible.
Acting University Registrar
Brenda Marshall
As Acting University Registrar, Brenda Marshall presides over an important and wide-reaching portfolio across student and campus life. She is responsible for overseeing the management of student enrolment, student records, course data, and policy management related to students.
Brenda Marshall joined the Faculty of Law at Bond University in 2005, having previously lectured for several years in the Schools of Business and Law at the University of Queensland. Brenda has a particular interest in trade practices law, encompassing both restrictive trade practices and consumer protection, and she teaches and researches in this area. Her publications to date have addressed a variety of trade practices topics, including market definition, misuse of market power, access to essential infrastructure services, misleading and deceptive conduct, unconscionable dealing, and related themes.
Vice President Operations
Ken Richardson
Ken Richardson is Bond’s Vice President Operations, with responsibilities extending across strategy, capital infrastructure, finance, information technology, human resources and facilities management.
For more than 20 years, Ken has held leadership roles in private and public higher education institutions, with extensive expertise in strategy and policy. He was previously at the University of Queensland, undertaking Director of Planning and Executive Officer to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) positions.
Vice President Engagement
Catherine Marks
Catherine Marks joined Bond University as the inaugural Vice President Engagement in September 2018. Catherine brings a wealth of experience to Bond in developing the University's reputation, profile, and future sustainability. Catherine has more than 25 years of experience in leading advancement, marketing and engagement functions, with award-winning campaigns in UK higher education at the University of Edinburgh, the University of South Wales, and before she came to Australia, as Director of Global Advancement at Swansea University.
Catherine is a trained economist and holds a Master's in International Marketing from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education. Catherine is a true advocate for global higher education, and she has also held positions and board memberships with the police force, the Audit Commission, and with Welsh Rugby in the UK. She is a trustee of CEDA (Committee for Economic Development in Australia), Bond Rugby and AFL boards in Australia.
Catherine is a proud Welsh lady, and she and her family have settled in Queensland where they continue their love and enthusiasm for the outdoors, both on land and on the water.
Vice President Future Students
Cheryl Jolliffe
As Bond’s Vice President Future Students, Cheryl Jolliffe oversees the University’s international office, domestic recruitment, brand and marketing, and admissions. Cheryl’s portfolio of Future Students is focused on raising the University’s global reputation, generating growth opportunities and student recruitment.
She has more than 20 years’ experience in higher education, holding senior leadership positions in international education at a number of institutions. Cheryl is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is a board member of Study Gold Coast.
