The Bull Sharks tennis squad capped off an incredible season by claiming a swag of gongs at the Bond University Club Sports Awards.

A bronze medal finish in Division 1 at the UniSport Nationals saw the men’s side named UniSport Team of the Year, Kaden Hensel was named Coach of the Year, and Juris Doctor student Chris Corrao was awarded UniSport Sportsman of the Year.

The UniSport Sportswoman of the year went to Bachelor of Business student Holly Greville.

Graville registered for netball and water polo and was an outstanding team player in both sports, driving between venues at opposite ends of the Gold Coast to compete.

A highlight of the evening was the announcement of the Club of the Year, bestowed upon the Bond Touch Football Club.

The club have created a social scene that is the envy of all other clubs, welcoming people of all skill levels to give the sport a go.

They also secured silver at this year’s Division 2 UniSport Nationals.

Best Sporting Moment of the Year went to the remarkable turnaround of the Men’s Div 2 soccer club.

The club were wooden spooners in 2022 but won the premiership this year.

Bond University Director of Sport Michael Collins said the awards night was a chance to recognise outstanding performances and enjoy the community spirit that exists across the university’s sporting clubs.

“At Bond we value the positive impact participation in sports can have on the physical, mental and social wellbeing of our students,” he said.

“And we consider intervarsity competition to be an important part of the student athlete experience.

“This event is not only about recognising the performances of our athletes and coaches but also the terrific contributions our clubs make to campus.’’
