Student for a Semester subject selection
As a Student for a Semester, you’ll complete one full university subject when you’re still in high school. This is a unique opportunity to learn more about Bond, get used to the structure of university classes and assessment, and to test drive a study area before you commit to a degree.
The subject you choose should reflect your interests and future career or study aspirations. Remember that Student for a Semester subjects can be credited towards your full degree at Bond University if they align with that particular study area and program.
Please note that class times and subjects change each semester, and we cannot guarantee you will be placed in your requested timeslot. If a subject is offered during school hours, you will need to seek approval from your school to attend your classes.
Applications for the September 2024 semester closed on Friday, 23 August.
Applications for the January 2025 semester will open on Friday, 15 November.

Global Citizenship
The course encourages participants to identify and overcome the primary barriers to effective global citizenship found in epistemological, political, and historical modes of thinking. Students will also explore how an absence in institutions and civil society of robust concepts of global citizenship can institute dehumanizing social and political practices.

Architecture
If you’re interested in making a mark on your city or town, through architecture, urban design and planning, sustainable development, construction management and more, an Architecture and Built Environment subject will build that necessary foundation.

Accounting Principles
This subject provides a thorough grounding in accounting with an emphasis on financial reporting and no prior knowledge of accounting is required. It covers the basic financial statements used in financial reporting, the accounting cycles, some contentious reporting issues, reporting analysis and the interpretation of financial statements.

Business Statistics
This subject will introduce students to the quantitative tools that are necessary for day-to-day business needs. The objectives of this subject are to: (a) provide a basic knowledge of the application of mathematics and statistics to business disciplines; (b) develop an ability to analyse and interpret data to provide meaningful information to assist in making management decisions; and (c) develop an ability to apply modern quantitative tools (Microsoft Excel) to data analysis in a business context.

Sport Communication
This subject introduces students to the practice of managing the distribution of information between a sport organisation and its stakeholders. It is designed to enhance understanding, evaluation, management and communication of a broad range of information for a variety of purposes and a broad range of audiences. Students will learn to write news stories and press releases, coordinate press conferences and develop an effective social media presence. Students will also gain experience in writing policy and governance documents.

Quantitative Methods
Designed to foster the development of foundational mathematical and statistical skills necessary for subsequent quantitative subjects in the Bond Business School. This includes applications of calculus, probability, discrete and continuous random variables, sampling distributions, hypothesis testing, and application of the central limit theorem to large sample inference and data analytics. The use of popular statistical computing packages is integral to providing an applied approach to these topics.

Directing Actors
This subject explores the actor/director relationship. It introduces students to the approaches and practices of working with actors to rehearse and achieve powerful screen performances. Furthermore, it demystifies how actors approach their work, the language they use to discuss their work, and the theoretical models developed over the past century, such as Stanislavski, Brecht, and Method, upon which most actors build their performance techniques.

Transforming Places
The Property and Construction industries play an important role in the creation and transformation of our built environments. In this subject, students are introduced to the processes involved in property development and construction projects and the roles and responsibilities of, and relationships between the various professionals and other industry stakeholders. Through the exploration of 2D drawings, 3D models and physical buildings, students gain an understanding of the history and current practices of design, engineering and construction.

Climate Change and the Future World
Understanding how the planet works has never been more important as a topic in tertiary education. A practical understanding of that and how it can affect humanity is vital. This subject is an introduction to climate change through Earth and Global Systems, climate mechanisms, ocean and atmospheric interactions and changes in the future world. In this subject, the climate change complexity is explained within the realm of general undergraduate knowledge.

World Languages
Languages provides you with an insight into a fascinating world of human languages. The innovative subject prepares you for the challenges of language learning and gives you the opportunity to ‘taste’ languages which you can study at Bond University. Business Law
This subject is an introductory level examination of the law regulating business in Australia today for accountants, business managers and other non-legal professionals. The subject seeks to develop students' knowledge of the Australian legal system, their ability to solve simple legal problems involving torts, contracts, consumer protection, competition regulation, intellectual property and employment, and their knowledge of the laws associated with starting, managing, financing and closing a business.

Contemporary Issues in Law & Society
Contemporary Issues in Law and Society is an undergraduate elective subject offered by the Faculty of Law. This subject is not a technical law subject. It explores some of the social and contemporary controversies which surround law. The goal is to create cross-disciplinary debate on how to solve contemporary problems such as: the role of law as a social system; the impact of science in an era of human cloning and designer babies; freedom of expression, media regulation and hate speech; government regulation of social media; criminal sanctions and punishment; and gender issues.
